*_Background_* I purchased a 64-bit Gateway DX4831 Desktop (specifications below) with Windows 7 Home Premium six or seven years ago. Three circumstances arose at about the same time: 1. From the moment I subscribed for Dropbox's cloud storage, I have been plagued by minor inconveniences and a repeated need for information on the functionality, reliance and speed of data transfer and...

Dell All in One 2305. 5 years old. 4GB ram. Failed drive which I had to replace. Removed it (Seagate 1TB Sata 3) and installed a new one. Seagate 1TB Sata 3. Loaded system recovery dvd's that I made when I purchased the system. System restore took place. Loaded all the programs that it came from factory with. Took around an hour to get the programs loaded - suddenly it gave off with beep beep...

I guess this is really a question for the moderator. I have not been able to find anything, here or elsewhere, about using a virtual machine so you can use a NVMe SSD as boot drive for Win7 x86. I have found a lot of people frustrated, as I was, about it only being able to be used as a storage drive. Since it's a rather obvious idea, I would think it would be out there somewhere. But if it...

I took a look at a thread from 2010 regarding The Safest Way to Clone Win 7 for dual boot, but I would like to know if the same applies for Wn 10? Does Win 10 have more advanced features to help achieve this? I have read that it's not recommended to try to dual boot Win 7 install on existing Win 10 but better to install Win 10 after on existing Win 7 is that right? Here's what I would like to...

At least once in a year I wipe Windows completely from my computer and do a whole fresh install with format just to find a surprisingly enhancement in the performance. Although the whole process doesn't take more than a half hour there is still all the pain of reinstall the applications that can take hours and after that several days until you have everything tweaked properly to the level of a...

I have a Dell XPS 8500 desktop running Windows 7. When new, I made the System Recovery Disks as suggested. Only used 2 DVD's. Kept them safe. Within the past month I had to use them to recover a half working system. Tried everything I could think of prior to that. My question: Could I use that same set to recover my system in the future if necessary? This is the only computer I have...

I have recently found that I can't type text into browser dialogue boxes. This occurs in Firefox, Chrome and IE. I could only find one thread pertaining to my issue, so here I am again. I hope I've explained my issue & best way to resolve it. Can I put my HDD with Windows 10 Pro (genuine Microsoft) in an external enclosure via e-SATA & use as well as my Windows 7 Pro on the HDD in my computer to use at my option? I've never tried a dual boot setup before; can I legally do so? Both are genuine Microsoft OS;...
