Is there a way to automate the process of "control userpasswords2" > uncheck "Users Must Enter..." > and specific the local account and its password (see attached)? Ideal solution would be something called from a batch file. edit: Win7SP1 Pro workstations

I have a newly built desktop PC. I have an SSD "C" drive that I have reserved and installed Windows 7 and later Flight simulator. I have a mechanical hard drive that has two partitions - "E" for data, and "F" to be devoted to Flight Simulator programs. I want to restrict the C drive to Windows and the Program Files. I have restored parts of my E drive from a external backup HDD. I created ...

Hi all, I'm having trouble installing windows 7 x64 from an iso burnt to a dvd on an Asus K-53E laptop. After selecting my boot options from the bios to load from DVD, it just keeps asking me to insert proper boot media. I've read some of the threads about similiar issues to mine but haven't been able to make anything quite work. Purchased a laptop with a broken HD for $50 since a new HD was...

Hi all, I need some Magic.:( I am trying to do a Windows 7 no-reformat, nondestructive reinstall. I have my original Win7 Sp1 (64BIT) installation DVD, my original 25-character product key, and a current backup. When I run the setup.exe, the blue "Install Now" window appears. I click install now and another window opens saying, "Setup is copying temporary files". The disk runs for a...

Can this still be installed and activated? I have an older build of mine I've been using mostly for burning movies and music on. I upgraded my main systems cpu and motherboard and I would like to put those components in my burning tower as they would be an upgrade to it. The drive will no longer match the new hardware so I assume I will have to perform a fresh clean OS install again. I just...

Can I install Win 7 Pro from retail but using a DELL Product Key

The reason behind this is pretty simple (but a bit long-winded). I own an OEM version of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit which is not tied to a manufacturer which I use in my computer that I built myself. The label states "Licensed for distribution only with a new PC". A different friend last week bought a Novatech PC and yesterday I tried to install my old retail version of Vista Ultimate...

Using EaseUS Todo Backup Free 8.2, I cloned my WIN7 partition (Disk 0 in the image) to a new ssd (Disk 1 in the image). Image: http://www.bigbang.gr/gp/misc/disks.jpg When I boot from Disk 1, the boot menu options remain the same as before (WINXP, WIN7, WIN7_2) and do not include the new windows in the new ssd (WIN7_NEW). I booted from a "Repair disc Windows 7 32-bit". In the "System...

With a newly installed C: & UEFI, run the original recovery partition?

If you didn't guess, the OS here is Windows 8. The internet is full of threads on this topic, but every single one is answered in one or more of the following ways: The first type of answer is something the OP has obviously tried already like "*Press F11 to get to the recovery partition*". The people writing this don't realise that a clean install of Windows on C: also erases the old UEFI and...

BIOS, RAID 1 and AHCI hot swappable drives question

I wanted to be able to hot swap drives, on a Gigabyte GA-Z97-GAMING 3 M/B. Seems the Gigagbyte BIOS has 3 SATA MODE SELECTION options: IDE, AHCI and RAID. It was set to RAID, which makes sense as the D drive is a pair of matched SATA III drives in a BIOS (software) RAID 1 pairing. C drive is an SSD with the OS on it. However this option doesn't seem to allow hot swapping, even though all drives...

Solved Problem with Boot Loader--EasyBCD--Recovering the Windows Bootloader?

~ a year ago my wife's computer experienced (paraphrased) 'can't find boot loader' when rebooting. At the time, I downloaded Win 7 repair files that corrected the problem until last night. Apparently there was a short power line glitch. Her UPS' battery was no longer effective, her machine rebooted and got stuck at the 'can't find boot loader' prompt. She tried rebooting a few times to no avail....

I have a dual boot system - 32 bit XP Professional and 64 bit 7 Professional. My Windows 7 system got badly infected with viruses. After fighting with it for two days, I went another direction. When I originally installed 7, I had only an 80 Gb drive to put it on. Since then, I did a partition copy onto a larger hard drive. I could never get it to boot, though. Today, I took the 80 Gb...
