Windows Install error: Can't Install to disk, controller not Enabled
So I have been trying to install windows seven into a hard drive for my friend.
I currently have windows install on my C:, have a separate HD for storage D:, and the third one that my friends wants windows installed into G;.

I'm thinking of doing a clean install of windows 7, but want to avoid all the windows 10 and telemetry updates that are geared for windows 10 upgrade.
Does anyone have a definitive list of updates to avoid, or will install only critical updates get around it completely.

Default Install Change Makes Other Pre-Installed Programs Inoperable

I wanted to make sure that from now on, any programs installed get installed on my second HDD in my system (D:\Program Files instead of C:\Program Files). I went into regedit and changed the default location reflecting the new destination for where I wanted programs to be installed....

Convert Sata Mode from AHCI to ISRT without reinstalling OS
Hello All,
On One of my dell laptops....
I tried Installing OS using IRST mode on in Sata Operations in BIOS.. but OS wasn't able to detect disks while Installing it. Even diskpart showed no disk available.
So I installed OS after changing sata mode back AHCI ..
I have a mSATA of 60GB and an HDD of 1 TB ...
OS got installed on 1TB hdd....

Ok, after having given up on my old disk I'm getting pretty sick of not getting my new computer up and running, so I've just decided to install my OS on my new drive that I initially planned to use just for storage, but, that's how it goes. I successfully installed Win 7 Home Premium x64 to UEFI/GPT disk (3TB).
Now I need to create a couple of data partitions ON THE SAME disk drive.
Questions :
*Do those data partitions need to be also GPT partitions (on the disk with GPT) ?
Or is there a choice : GPT or MBR ?*

Solved 7 Home Premium upgrade to Pro still possible without Anytime Upgrade?
Want to upgrade Win 7 Home Premium 32bit to Pro 32bit so that, among other things, I can do backups to a network attached storage device. Anytime Upgrade tells me it is no longer available.
Home Premium was installed from a Reinstallation DVD for Dell PCs (I have a Dimension 5000) and I still have the DVD and product key from when I installed and registered it.

New Z50-70 install windows 7 fail
I received my new Z50-70 yesterday and removed the Windows 8.1 HDD for storage.I installed a Crucial MX100, 256 SSD.
I then tried to install Windows 7 Home Premium on the SSD from a USB drive.
